Clara Maria Hildegard Dorothea Schubert was born in Vienna into a family that has been connected to music for many generations. During her childhood and teenage years she learned to play the violin and the harp, however the love and passion for horses became more influencial over time.

Clara doesn`t remember the time when she was not already on a horseback, but she got her first defintive riding lessons in Anif (near Salzburg, Austria) when she was five years old. When Clara was 11 years old she started to take it more seriously and rode regularly, especially on her aunt`s horses. Once she reached the age of 14 she received her first lessons and clinics with the Australian Marjorie Armstrong who was a pupil of Mestre Nuno Oliveira. After some years of frequenting regular training and clinics with her, Clara undertook an internship at Yardah, Marjorie`s stud farm in Western Australia.

While watching the Horse show Apassionata Clara Maria Schubert fell in love with the lusitano horses. So she came to Portugal, first of all via Erasmus. Then she fell in love with the country and especially with the Ribatejo, having a preference for the areas around Vila Franca de Xira, Chamusca and Golegã.

Firstly she got lessons and training at Centro Equestre of Mestre Luís Valença who once said: “ I don`t know when and how Clara is at university and studies because she is almost every day here and riding.”  Nevertheless Clara Maria Schubert successfully completed the European Master in Conference Interpretation at the Faculdade de Letras of Lisbon University and has been working since 2012 as a freelance interpreter and translator (special topic: Medicine).

Clara Maria Schubert has also undertaken an internship at Morgado Lusitano, near Lisbon, an equestrian centre with focus on equestrian tourism and classical dressage lessons. After completing that internship, she spent more than one year at Academia de Dressage, where she received lessons from Raquel Falcão and at this time she started her competitive career in the sport of dressage. Since 2012, Clara has been preparing and training horses from private clientes in small private stables (“quintas”) in the area of Vila Franca de Xira, Arruda dos Vinhos and Alenquer.

Clara has already achieved all the riding badges and licences for national and international competition riding in Austria.
